I have not seen many of these for sale or in tanks but when diving in Kauai last month I saw a lot of them. I was able to get one through Chris at Vets Pets, while mine is young and lacking the adult colors, the adult was pretty spectacular while diving. I guess they get to be large and a possible bruiser but think my 300 reef build will handle him as he grows. http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae260/Knightnsd/palanitang_zpse38f2480.jpg (http://s977.photobucket.com/user/Knightnsd/media/palanitang_zpse38f2480.jpg.html)

I will post one when I can but he is just starting some colors on the fin skirts, mostly grayish brown so far in the body and still shy. The last pic I took of him was blurry as I wanted to post one and follow it up in 6 months once he showing more color.

Really beautiful fish. They get REALLY big, rather aggressive, and tend to eat stuff in a reef once large. All worth it, IMO, if you have a big enough tank.

I gave up on getting a good picture of mine, every one of them is blurry, his tail is just starting to show some of the spotting and the fins are yellow edged, other than that it is still a little drab and hard to see the price tag paid for it. Well here is the best pic I could get of the shy fellow that is beginning to eat anything in the tank and making me think the 300 will be a great home for it. http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii501/knightnsd68/palani2.jpg (http://s1257.photobucket.com/user/knightnsd68/media/palani2.jpg.html)

That actually might be a bariene tang, based on the white portion of the tail, and the blue along the dorsal fin base.

It is a barienne tang.
The palani/dussmerrsi tang has the blue tail like in picture.
The barienne has the white tail and different color scalpel
But they are both beautiful tangs. Chris is looking for mine as well.

Def a bariene... the dark spot behind the eye is clearly visible In the new pic. They are notoriously aggressive, so not surprising It fights with the purple.

thanks I thought it was the juvenile Palaini but looked up the adult bariene and see what you guys are talking about above. Funny the one I found online said expensive..peaceful tang...maybe it is not the bariene tang as my mine is not peaceful at all. Tough battle between the purple or the bariene tang on which is actually worse in temperment. The colors are beginning to show and the gold yellow in its body is worth the agression though. I guess they get huge so I have a reason for an upgrade in a few years
