So I have a bunch of rock (about 20 lbs) that was cleaned, rinsed dried for about a month and turned white. Today I rinsed it again, cleaned the dead stuff and off. I noteced that on three pieces the 'white' washed/scrubbed away and it was red underneath. I have another 50+ pounds and none of it is 'Red'. Purple coraline yes but not 'Red'. Without a picture... what do you all think?

Thanks in advance~ Woody

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

But from how you describe it, it has a high possibility to be coralline. There is another possibility it could be dead and dried out cyano.
Without a picture, it really is hard to tell.

There are several different colors of coralline algae; red, green, purple, pink.
